Welcome to Mandela International Magnet School!

The Mandela International Magnet School (MIMS) is Santa Fe's only public International Baccalaureate (IB) school.  We opened our doors in August 2014 with 50 students in each of grades 7 & 8 and are growing a grade per year until we complete grades 7 through 12 in school year 2018 - 2019 when will have 300 students.

In the fall of 2016, MIMS received IB World School status for its Middle Years Program (MYP) and we will receive IB World School Status for its Diploma Program (DP) in the spring of 2017.  We are very proud to have accomplished both authorizations in a little more than 2 years time, a compliment to our excellent teaching staff.  These authorizations allow MIMS students to achieve the highly prized IB Diploma as well as the even higher prized IB Bilingual Diploma.

Admission to our school is open to all students through a democratic, geographic lottery which has resulted in student representation from every elementary and middle school, public and private, as well as home schools in Santa Fe.  See below for the "CLICK HERE TO APPLY" button.

We invite you to peruse these pages at length, learn as much about our school as possible and never hesitate to ask us a question about anything.  After all, we say we are ....

Educating the Whole Person for the Whole World!

2017-2018 Lottery

The lottery for admission to the school took place on March 4, 2017.  There are still positions available for grades 10 and 11 for school year 2017-2018.   Admission to grades 10 and 11 for school year 2017-2018 will occur on a first-come, first-served basis.  Applications for grades 7, 8 and 9 will be accepted and placed at the bottom of the waiting list and will only be considered once all other applications are considered first.
