App Selection and Purchasing Procedures

NOTE:  The Apps selection and purchasing process continues to be refined.  In an effort to make this process accessible now, there is a condensed version of the Approved Apps below. Please understand, we are working on an interactive website that breaks Apps into grade-level, content, cost, etc.

Purchasing Apps for district tablets and ChromeBooks can be a rewarding enrichment of the learning environment.  As with all district purchasing, there are procedures set in place to protect student learning, student security, and the SFPS network ... all while maintaining financial accountability for our spending.

Below, you will find a description of the process for purchasing Apps:

1. Apps That are Free and Approved 

Check the current list of Approved Apps.  Apps that are free, and on this list can be requested by simply entering a SchoolDude ticket.  The installation process will typically take 3-4 days, but can be longer depending on current ticket count.

2.  Apps That Require a Purchase and are Approved

If you would like to purchase a paid App from the Approved Apps List, you will need to fill out an App Justification Form to obtain permission from your Principal.

3.  Apps That are Not on the Approved List

If you would like to purchase a paid App that is not on the Approved Apps List, you will follow the same step (filling out an Apps Justification Form), however Principal permission will be followed by a review of the requested App by the App Review Committee. This process can take up to 2-3 weeks in total.
