MIMS: Educating the Whole Person for the Whole World

Hello and welcome to Mandela International Magnet School!  Whether you are a parent of a student enrolled at our school, a first time visitor, or someone seeking more information, we hope that our website provides an insight into our rich learning environment.

Founded in 2014 and the only public 7-12 fully accredited International Baccalaureate School in New Mexico, Mandela International Magnet School holds learning via intellectual curiosity and inquiry at the core of all we do.  Apart from a rigorous academic program in both the Middle Years Program and Diploma Program, we actively seek to equip students with the initiative, vision, desire and tools to be agents of positive change in our local and global community.
We are proud of our rich curricular offerings; our teachers are highly trained in their fields and in the socio-emotional development of the students with whom they work.  Furthermore, as a Harvard Project Zero Cultures of Thinking Partner school, we benefit from an ongoing Professional Development relationship with Ron Ritchhart, Senior Research Associate at Harvard University, and, among other areas, he focuses on teaching for understanding, the development of intellectual character, making students' thinking visible, and the development of school and classroom culture.

We are a lottery-based school of choice in the Santa Fe Public Schools and are quickly becoming a model in Northern New Mexico of high quality education that focuses on the intellectual and socio-emotional development of the students that we teach.

Please spend some time exploring our website and reach out with any questions that you may have to further your understanding of the International Baccalaureate and Harvard Project Zero in Santa Fe Public Schools. Sincerely,

Randy Grillo
