Created in 2025 by Santa Fe youth, this mural reflects the challenges young people face—such as violence, discrimination, and mental health challenges—as well as the resilience, resources, support, and hope that help them thrive. It honors the voices of young people while reminding us of their strength, dreams, and capacity to inspire change, along with their love for the community of Santa Fe.
Stop by the Santa Fe Teen Center to view the outdoor wall mural. Scan the QR code to check out the augmented reality components, and hear an amazing spoken word poem by Santa Fe
Youth Poet Laureate, Sofia Salazar.

Be an upstander!
If you See Something, Say Something.
Students can report their concerns via the Say Something reporting system – whether it’s a possible threat or they are worried about a friend’s safety.
All reports are taken seriously and are immediately reported to the appropriate SFPS personnel.

Commit to never bringing a gun to school and to never using guns to solve problems.
Since 1996, over 10 million youth nationwide have signed the Student Pledge Against Gun Violence. The Pledge encourages young people to abstain from contributing to gun violence, including bringing a gun to school.
The Pledge is available in older and younger versions, as well as English and Spanish.
Anyone can take the pledge, even teachers, parents, and community members!

KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE BY PREVENTING GUN VIOLENCE
For many young people, concerns about gun violence are part of the world they navigate every day.
SFPS Gun Violence Prevention Week raises awareness, promotes early intervention, and highlights practical steps that help keep students safe and supported.
This campaign is anti-gun violence, not anti-gun, and recognizes the importance of outdoor and hunting traditions for many New Mexico families.
We are empowering students to shape a culture of safety in their schools by:
Taking the Student Pledge Against Gun Violence
Use Say Something to report safety concerns.
Reach out if you need help with a conflict, stress, or other challenges. Talk to a trusted adult, or call 988 or another helpline.
Thank you for supporting Gun Violence Prevention Week.
